police beatingA police officer is on trial for beating up an Iraq war Army veteran in a housing project on West 93rd Street, and prosecutors have released a full video of the beating (below), which was caught on surveillance cameras.

Officer David London confronted the war veteran, Walter Harvin, and asked him if he lived in the building, the New York Post reported. Harvin was there to visit his mother on that night in 2008 and after telling the officer he lived in the building, Harvin shoved London. After attempting unsuccessfully to subdue Harvin with mace, London hit Harvin with his baton and continued hitting him and kicking him once he hit the ground.

London, an Air Force reservist himself, told the jury that he continued hitting Harvin because he was concerned Harvin would sweep his leg or otherwise attack him (he continued hitting him after he was handcuffed). He pointed out a point in the video where Harvin kicks him, the Post reported. London will continue to testify today. (the video below is pretty graphic)
