US Pole Dancing Championships: Amateur Division
This year’s championship also hosts an amateur division. The USPDF accepted 6 competitors from all over the US, and the winner will be rewarded with a USPDF pro-status. The competitors perform two rounds judged by 3 judges. All judges have extensive backgrounds in professional dance and choreography, aerialist performance, fitness, and gymnastics. Absolutely no nudity involved. At Symphony Space. 1 and 7:30 p.m. $20 (the 7:30 performance is more expensive, starting at $45).

The Benefit for Haiti Comedy Show
All the proceeds will be donated to the relief efforts in Haiti. The performers are Nikki Carr, Jay the Comedian, Kenny Williams, and Mike Britt. At Symphony Space. 8:30 p.m. $20

Family Friday
Come out of the cold in Central Park for Family Fridays. Jump-start your weekend with nature-inspired art and craft activities that are guaranteed to be fun for the whole family! Programs are ongoing between 2:00 pm and 4:00 pm; drop in anytime before 3:30 pm to participate. At the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center in Central Park (Located inside the Park on 110th Street between Fifth and Lenox Avenues). 2 p.m. FREE.

Whole Foods Jazz Legends
Join Whole Foods for the Jazz Legend Winter Series which highlights the heritage of our neighborhood and honors the great musicians that played at Mikell’s Jazz Club, the former resident of 97th Street and Columbus Avenue. Tonight: The Kansas City Sound. At Columbus Square Whole Foods. 5-7 p.m. FREE.

Latino Artists Round Table
LART (Latino Artists Round Table) presents reading and conversation with Dahlma Llanos-Figueroa, Daughters of the Stone, Eva C. Vasquez, Lagrimas Negras. This event will be in English and Spanish. At Lincoln Square Barnes and Noble. 7 p.m. FREE.

Twilight Bloggers Event
Laura from TwilightLexicon.com and Kara from TwilightMoms.com will join Borders for all the New Moon fun. Followed by a New Moon release party. At Borders Columbus Circle. 9:30 p.m. FREE.

    Symphony Space hosts the US Pole Dancing Championship? I guess Avery Fisher Hall is still cleaning up from last year’s event.
