Become an Amateur Bee-Watcher This Spring

beeBees are very trendy in New York City right now. The city is considering allowing people to keep beehives in their yards legally, and now the Parks Department and the American Museum of Natural History are asking New Yorkers to become citizen scientists and track bees around their homes. The organizations want to study how best to preserve bee habitats and encourage plant pollination.

To participate, visit the Great Pollinator Project or email beewatchers@gmail.com. You will be asked to take a brief orientation and plant some flowers (if not in your home then in a public garden or park), and then watch the bees for half an hour every 2 weeks and post your observations online.
