Views from the Past Tour
As you promenade through the heart of Central Park, imagine yourself living in 19th-century New York City. Learn about the Park’s history and hear how its designers, Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, struggled to make their vision our reality. Meet outside the Central Park Dairy Gift Shop, mid-Park at 65th Street. 12 p.m. FREE.

Mary Pope Osborne’s Magic Tree House Series
The bestselling creator of the wildly popular award-winning series that travels back in time and to distant lands talks about her books with kids ages 6 and up. The event includes a discussion with the audience, a creative writing project, and a book signing. Special guest Natalie Pope Boyce author of the Magic Tree House Research Guides. Khris Lewin will perform an excerpt. At Symphony Space. 1 p.m. $20 day of show.

New York at the Oscars
The Film Society at Lincoln Center is scratching your Oscar itch this weekend, by showing films set in New York City that have won Academy Awards. Check out classics like Annie Hall, the Godfather and The French Connection at the Walter Reade Theater. At the Film Society of Lincoln Center. All day. $12 ($15 for The French Connection with a director appearance)
