Private School’s Controversial Addition Approved by LPC

columbia prepThe Landmarks Preservation Commission approved Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School’s application to build a rear yard extension on Tuesday over the complaints of neighbors who said that it would change the character or the area, Curbed reported. Columbia Prep plans to build an astroturf-covered platform connecting the 94th Street building to anohter on on 93rd, and add classrooms on the top of the school.

The school, on 94th Street between Columbus Avenue and Central Park West, agreed to  drop the height of the platform from 16 to 13 feet. (Images via Curbed. Lots more on their site)
