Family Friday in Central Park
The Central Park Conservancy is joined by the Museum for African Art for a special Black History Month-themed Family Friday program in which Kofi Osei Williams, percussionist and member of Asase Yaa African American Dance Theater, introduces us to the Djembe drum. Learn authentic rhythms from the West African countries of Ivory Coast, Ghana, Benin and Togo. No drumming experience required. At the Charles A. Dana Discovery Center (Located inside the Park at 110th Street between 5th and Lenox Avenues). 2 p.m. FREE.
Music and Movies for Haiti
Performance by Tiga Jean Baptiste; Thomas Campbell’s film Birth of the Sun about Grady Alexis, namesake of El Taller’s gallery. All funds collected from this event will go to Lemonaid For Haiti (www.lemonaidforhaiti.com) which is a grassroots effort based out of Brooklyn that helps to support The Caribbean Grace Children’s feeding Program in Port au Prince. At El Taller Latino, 2710 Broadway at 104th. 7pm; $10.

Indie Rock at Calhoun
A wildly entertaining live band, Yoni Gordon and the Goods’ meticulous pop songs are nothing short of infectious. Expect to dance and get swept into audience sing-alongs — Yoni will have you on your feet! Nice New Outfit is a high-energy rock juggernaut featuring Calhoun Lower School Math Teacher, Anthony Yacobellis.
