Corrado Opening New Bakery and Cafe on 76th Street

Restaurants and bakeries are just dying to open new spots on Amsterdam Avenue in the Upper West Side these days. After Crumbs recently announced a new location, the Upper East Side bakery Corrado has decided to open a new bakery and cafe on the corner of Amsterdam Avenue and 76th Street, Gael Greene reports. The cafe is expected to open in April.

The dismal real estate market provided an oportunity, as Corrado owner Shaul Natan landed the spot for $150 a foot, whereas it was initially renting for $225 a foot.

The cafe will have a wood-burning oven and serve foccacia and other delicacies, Greene says. It will have 60 seats, and an outdoor cafe could serve 30 more people. It’s still unclear what the new restaurant will be called.

Greene also reports that Cascabel Tacqueria is looking for a apace to rrent on the Upper West Side too. Hopefully, some new gyms will open to deal with all of the pounds we’re about to pack on.
