This week, two more stores at Columbus Circle have either opened or are preparing to open. Michaels, the Texas-based crafts chain, has opened its first New York City store, and TJ Maxx will open shortly. Other businesses, including a tapas restaurant called Taberna, are also on their way.
OPEN:

Michaels Stores
The craft store has opened, or at least “pre-opened.” The grand opening is on Oct. 25, but the store is already selling merchandise, and people have been handing out coupons at subway stops for the pre-sale. Shoppers can get 40% off any one regular-priced item with a coupon (didn’t get one? the first person who emails us can have ours.)
Taberna
The new restaurant on Amsterdam between 80th and 81st will be opening in December with 22 tables and a bar with seating for 12. It will be open 7 days from 5 p.m. until 3 a.m.

TJ Maxx
The Upper West Side is either getting much more convenient, or turning into a strip mall. Discount retailer TJ Maxx is set to open in the Columbus Square development between 97th and 100th Streets on Oct. 29.
Community Food and Juice
The brunch spot between 112th and 113th on Broadway with an emphasis on local organic food closed in April because of a fire, but reopened on Wednesday (Food and Things)
A New Boulud?
Daniel Boulud, of Bar Boulud fame, has confirmed that he’s opening two new eateries on the corner of 63rd Street and Broadway (the Chase Bank spot). He’ll be opening a sandwich spot as well as a more traditional restaurant. The date? To be determined. (Eater)
I’m sure we missed something. If you’ve seen a business that recently opened or closed let us know and send us a picture if you can!
