Apthorp Discount Apartments Selling Fast

The Apthorp needed to sell 25 apartments to pass muster with the state Attorney General in its attempt to go condo, and it appears to have met its goal, the Post reports today. Because of the awful market, and the fact that the deadline to convert the building from rentals to condos was coming up this month, the apartments have been on super-sale lately.

Prices for a one-bedroom fell to as low as $1.5 million. Meanwhile, some rent-controlled tenants pay less than $1,000 a month, the Post says. The building has gotten all sorts of celebrity attention — even Brangelina supposedly came a-knockin’. But even though Alec Baldwin, Matt Damon and others have been by, none has bought, the Post says.
